Sonya has been with Appalachian Land Company for 21 years and is one of the most popular Sales Associates. She is also a Certified Real Estate Specialist. Aside from being professional and knowledgeable about every aspect of the Real Estate business, Sonya has a friendly personality and caring attitude.
Joey Reid
Joey is always in demand. As a Sales Associate with Appalachian Land Company for 20 years, his popularity not only stems from his enthusiasm and interest in finding his customers exactly what they're looking for, whether it be home or property, but in the personal relationships he forms with them. He has a way of mixing business with pleasure that creates a comfortable atmosphere with everyone, stranger or friend. It isn't unusual to see Joey and his customers in a restaurant eating dinner together or catch them enjoying a game of tennis or find them among the crowd at a ball game.
Both Sonya & Joey being born and raised in North Carolina gives them a natural, true love of the western North Carolina mountains, as well as the definite advantage of familiarity with the area.  Connie Watkins
Office Assistant
In her 9 years here at Appalachian Land Company, Connie Watkins has been so much more to Joey Reid than an office assistant. Connie makes sure each transaction goes smoothly from start to finish, aiding the customers as well as the agents. She oversees all paperwork for Joey, answers telephone calls, organizes schedules and more.
Born and raised in the Marble area, Connie was the 11th of 13 children. Her husband of 27 years, Bob Watkins, is also from Marble. They grew up together and started dating after they met at church. They have one daughter, Amanda, age 23, and one grandson, Kole who is 5 years old. Connie said she likes the friendliness of the people and the beautiful mountains, and that is what makes this area home.
Connie graduated from Andrews High School in 1981 and worked most of her life at area sewing factories. When the Levi’s plant closed, she was given the opportunity to go back to school. Connie attended Tri-County Community College and graduated with an Associate’s degree in accounting. She said it is wonderful how God closes one door and opens another. Soon after graduating, a friend told her about Appalachian Land Company and she began working here because she liked it so well.
When she has time for hobbies, Connie enjoys learning to play the piano, sewing and quilting, singing with her family at the Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home, and shopping with her daughter, and playing with Kole.

Rhonda Stone
Office Assistant
Rhonda joined the company on August 1, 2005 and is working as an Agent Assistant to Sonya Reid. Rhonda makes sure each transaction gets taken care of from start to finish, handleing the clients as well as the agents. She oversees all paperwork for Sonya, answers telephone calls, organizes schedules and more.
Rhonda, a native of Illinois, grew up in Orlando, Florida. She and her husband, Tony, moved to North Carolina in September, 2004. The Stones just purchased thier first home in Murphy February 2010 after living in Brasstown for 5 years! They are both very excited and look forward to the life of a homeowner!! While they do not have any children they spend plenty of time with their Miniature Dachshunds Peanut and Daisy.
Rhonda enjoys country and western dancing, reading, and races at Tri County Track, and most of all her and her husband ride a Yamaha Road Star Motorcycle every chance they get. Her background in banking, accounting and residential real estate will serve to make her a very valuable addition to the Appalachian Land Company family.
